Lately, all the network code for recharging on buying data and airtime has been changed to one particle code. Lots of users are still confused, but you don’t have to be as it makes it easy for all network users to access easily.
How to Borrow Data
A USSD code can be used to borrow data from your mobile network. The procedure for borrowing data is the same across all cell networks. However, each cellphone network has its own USSD code for borrowing airtime or data.
New Code to Borrow Airtime and Data on MTN
- Dial *3O3#.
- Click on “Borrow Data”
- To borrow from airtime, choose from the list on your screen.
- Then, from the list of available data loans, choose your favorite data plan.
- Select your desired data plan and complete the purchase.
How to Borrow Data & Airtime From Airtel with the New Code
- Dial *303#.
- A prompt will ask you to choose to borrow airtime or borrow data. Select the borrow data option.
- A list of data bundles you qualify for will pop up. Select the bundle that works for you.
- Follow the prompts to confirm the transaction.
Borrow Data & Airtime From 9mobile
- Dial *665#.
- Select “Borrow Data”. The network will display on your device screen the bundle that you are qualified to borrow.
- Choose the data loan of your choice.
- Follow the prompts to confirm your loan.
How Much Can You Borrow with this New Code
The amount to borrow did not change, it only sticks to the code. However, the amount to borrow depend on your choice. For MTN users, old users are allowed to borrow from N2000 upward. While new users can borrow within the limits of N25 to N1000.
Furthermore, it all goes the same for other networks, like Glo, Airtel, and 9mobile. The least amount you can borrow from either MTN, Airtel, Glo, or 9mobile is 25MB. Other loan options include 50MB, 100MB, 500MB, 1.5GB, 2 GB, and more.
How Long Will the Data Loan Last?
The expiry dates for loans are always shown alongside loan options. Some loans are valid for only a day, some for 2 days, 3 days, 5 days, or 30 days.
If you do not exhaust the loan before the expiry date, it will no longer be available for use but you will still have to pay back your network provider the full value of the loan.
Transaction Fees
These loans are not provided for free by your mobile network operator. Each loan comes with a service fee. In Nigeria, the network service price is the same—15% of the data bundle’s airtime value.
This implies that when it comes time to pay, your network operator will subtract the data’s airtime value plus a 15% service charge.
