Peter Gregory Obi CON was born on 19 July 1961 and he is a Nigerian politician and businessman. He became the Vice Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 Nigeria General Election (PDP) and he aspires to become the President of Nigeria in the 2023 elections.He was also a presidential candidate in the 2023 Nigerian general election.

He served as Governor of Anambra State from 17 March 2006 until 2 November 2006 when he was impeached, and from May 9 2006 February 2007 to November 29, after his impeachment was overturned.Although a new election was held on April 29, 2007, Peter Obi was reappointed Governor on June 14, 2007, following a court ruling that he should be allowed to fulfill his duties. four-year period. On July 19, 1961, Peter Obi was born in Onitsha, Nigeria. He completed his secondary education at Christ the King College, Onitsha. He matriculated at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1980 and graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Philosophy. in Switzerland, where he also received two certificates under the Senior Executive Program and the Executive Director Program. In addition, he attended Kellogg Graduate School of Management in the United States, Said Business School at Oxford University and George Business School at Cambridge University.

Peter Obi resigned on May 29, 2007, following legislative elections won by Emmanuel Nnamdi Uba. He returned to the court, this time claiming that the four-year term he won in the 2003 election came into effect only when he took office in March 2006. On 14 June 2007, the Court Supreme Nigeria upheld Peter Obi’s request and reinstated him to office. This effectively ended the term of Peter Obi’s successor, Andy Uba, whose election on 14 April 2007 was overturned by the Supreme Court because Obi’s four-year term should have been extended until March 2010.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Peter Obi the winner of the 2010 Anambra State Governor’s Election, defeating Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. Governor Peter Obi’s election victory extended his term as governor of Anambra by four years. He ended his second term on March 17, 2014 and handed over the governorship to Willie Obiano.Goodluck Chairman Ebele Jonathan appointed Peter Obi as the Chairman of the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission following the 2015 General Election (SEC).

 On 12 October 2018, Peter Obi was honored as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the presidential election of the People’s Democratic Party in Nigeria. His party came in second.On 24 March 2022, Peter Obi announced his intention to run for President of Nigeria on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party but later switch to Labour Party after he was defeated in primary election at People’s Democratic Party. Luckily, Peter Obi won the Presidential primary election in Labour Party and he was given the ticket to represent Labor Party in the 2023 Presidential Election. Though he later loss to Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is in the opposition party, Action People Congress.

Peter Obi married Margaret Brownson Usen in 1992 and the couple has two children. His daughter was named Gabriella Nwamaka Frances Obi and his son was named Gregory Peter Oseloka Obi. He is a devout Catholic. Peter Obi children are currently living abroad to continue their education.
